Apple Picking Sensory Bin Fun

Looking for a creative way to keep your kids engaged this fall? Try an Apple Picking Sensory Bin! It combines fun with learning by offering a tactile experience perfect for developing fine motor skills and practicing sorting colors.

Supplies Needed:

- Uncooked white rice (one bag)

- Red and green food coloring

- White vinegar (2-3 TBS)

- Plastic or foam apples (red and green)

- Large bin

- Ziploc bag

- Small scoops or tongs

- Measuring cups or bowls (optional)

Create the rice base by dyeing it with vinegar and food coloring. Divide the rice in half and color half red and half green. You do this by mixing the rice, vinegar, and food coloring in a Ziploc bag. Don’t worry if it gets too wet. It will just take a bit longer to dry. Allow to dry. Spread the rice on the bottom of a plastic bin. Add the apples. Encourage your child to sort the apples by color, practicing their fine motor skills as they scoop, pour, and explore. This sensory bin is not only a tactile experience but also a playful learning opportunity. Enjoy the fall vibes indoors!
