Reflecting on 2024: Challenges and Triumphs of a Small Business and Indie Author

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the highs and lows of being both a small business owner and an indie author. This journey is one of passion, creativity, and perseverance, but it’s not without its challenges.

Being an indie author often feels like navigating an uphill climb. Creating stories is just the beginning—there’s marketing, building a following, and ensuring your work reaches the right hands. The competition is fierce, and resources can be limited. For a small business, every day brings its hurdles, from managing finances to keeping up with ever-changing trends. Yet, these difficulties teach resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to your vision.

Through the challenges, there’s a silver lining that makes every struggle worth it. This year, I’ve had the incredible privilege of helping little ones find their inner calm through stories and breathing techniques. Knowing that these resources provide comfort and mindfulness to children during their formative years is rewarding. Every time a parent shares how their child connects with a story or enjoys a breathing exercise, it reaffirms my purpose.

One of the brightest spots in 2024 has been supporting homeschooling families. As someone who values education and creativity, being able to offer materials that make learning fun and meaningful has been a dream come true. Seeing how families incorporate these tools into their daily routines has been a testament to the power of storytelling and mindfulness in education.

Despite the challenges of running a small business, there’s freedom in being your own boss. This year has allowed me to explore creative ideas, take risks, and bring my vision to life in ways that would not have been possible otherwise. It’s not just a job; it’s a calling that allows me to connect with families, educators, and children in a meaningful way.

I want to reach even more families and homeschool classrooms, spreading the message that mindfulness, creativity, and connection are essential for little ones and their caregivers.
